| Millions of seniors and people with disabilities rely on Medicare, but if the authors of Project 2025 get their way, then we can kiss our hard-won health coverage goodbye. Project 2025 would make corporate insurance plans—run by the likes of Aetna and UnitedHealthcare—the default option for people enrolling in Medicare. This would be a windfall for Wall Street, but a disaster for patients and health care providers. This is a blueprint to privatize Medicare completely, eroding traditional Medicare and replacing it with care that costs more for worse outcomes. The only reason to privatize Medicare is to line the pockets of corporate health insurance CEOs and stockholders. Our experience with privatized health plans tells us that corporate insurers cannot be trusted to run Medicare. Their so-called "Advantage" plans routinely delay and deny care, rob seniors of their choice of doctor, and saddle both patients and hospitals with outrageous costs. Tell your member of Congress to protect Medicare from Project 2025! Thank you, Mike Phelan Progress America |
