We need a SCOTUS Ethics Act NOW

Elected and appointed officials across the government have high standards of ethics applied to their actions. The Supreme Court shouldn't be an exception.

Tell Congress: Pass the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act. SIGN THE PETITION! The Supreme Court's recent disastrous decision in Chevron undid decades of precedent that allowed federal agencies to keep our environment, water, food, and much, much more safe from corporate greed, wrongdoing, and negligence. Agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just lost important powers to mega-corporations. And at the center of it all is another giant Clarence Thomas scandal. Thomas reversed his long-held position to side with Big Oil giant Chevron in this landmark case after his wife reportedly accepted secret payments from a shadowy conservative network. Thomas' shift also came while he was receiving lavish gifts from GOP mega-donor billionaire Harlan Crow, who was linked to other groups fighting to overturn the same corporate regulations. Congress must take action to END this corruption on the Supreme Court. Thomas wrote a landmark SCOTUS opinion in 2005 upholding the doctrine at play in the Chevron case — the precedent that allowed the administrative state to continue functioning as intended. That precedent allowed the EPA to set and enforce rules to protect rivers from chemical dumping, the FDA to decide health and safety standards for food that ends up on supermarket shelves, and the Department of Health and Human Services to effectively manage Medicare and Medicaid. Now, after all of the luxury trips, unreported income, and shadowy right-wing dealings, Thomas changed his mind on his longstanding position.
