This is a BIG DEAL—and we want to thank every Democrat who voted for it so they know that constituents are paying attention, are fighting alongside them on climate, health care, and corporate taxes, and are ready to fight for the bill's final passage.

We all spend a lot of time calling on our senators to take action—it's also important to thank them when they do. And the Inflations Reduction Act is truly historic:

• It's the biggest single investment in green energy to combat our climate crisis by any government in history.
• It empowers Medicare to drive down prescription drug prices.
• It sets a base for corporate taxes so that corporate freeloaders will finally pay more of their fair share.

Not a single Republican supported these measures—and Democrats know they'll be hammered by special-interest lobbyists for their votes. Let's make sure they know that voters are paying attention too—and have their back.

We have more work to do—to expand access to vision and dental care, to cap insulin prices for all Americans (something Republicans stripped out of the bill), to further realize a true Green New Deal, to hold accountable Republicans this November, and to elect more progressive champions who will build on this process.

 

While it's a long fight, we'll keep going only by taking moments to appreciate what we're accomplishing together—and making sure to thank the elected officials who cast the votes to get it done.
