This is what the end of Roe v. Wade looks like

Days after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, a 10-year-old rape victim in Ohio was denied an abortion and forced to travel hundreds of miles to Indiana to terminate her pregnancy.

Meanwhile, Republicans across the country are racing to pass their own abortion bans by the end of this month, so that within a few weeks, more rape victims like her will be denied abortion care as well.²

And if Republicans are able to win control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections—as many predict they will—they will pass a nationwide abortion ban that would stop a child like this from getting an abortion anywhere.^3,4

Think of it. A 10-year-old child is raped, and Republicans think she should be forced to carry the pregnancy to term.

It's just plain sick.

But when South Dakota's Republican governor was asked specifically whether she agreed with the law banning abortion for a 10-year-old rape victim, she said, "I don't believe a tragic situation should be perpetuated by another tragedy."⁵

This is the America of today's extreme MAGA Republican Party.

The story of the little girl in Ohio went viral on the internet, but the truth is we have no idea how many cases like this are happening. One thing is for sure: She's not the only one.

To restore legal abortion and stop any more pregnant people, including children, from dying, we're focused in three key areas:

1. We've launched a multimillion-dollar effort to defeat the extreme MAGA Republicans running for U.S. Senate in key states like Georgia, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania so we can expand our Senate majority, get rid of the filibuster, and re-legalize abortion in all 50 states.
2. We're going big in key governor's races in states like Arizona, Texas, and Michigan so we can defeat efforts to pass and enforce abortion bans in these states.
3. We're doing something we've never done in our history: We're investing millions of dollars to defeat the Big Lie candidates for secretary of state who will throw out votes and help Donald Trump steal the 2024 presidential election, which would almost certainly lead to an immediate federal abortion ban.

Politico described MoveOn's campaign as "a badly needed infusion for Democrats facing an uphill battle this fall in a tough political climate."⁶ But our budget is based on projected donations from MoveOn members between now and November. If we don't hit our goals, we won't be able to do everything we have planned.

We know that times are tight right now, but together, with MoveOn's millions of members all pitching in, we can do this. In fact, if every MoveOn member donated just two to three bucks, we'd be all set.
