| Pamela, I've said this before, and I'll keep saying it for our pals in the Senate: It is time for Senate Democrats to abolish the Jim Crow filibuster once and for all. And I'd love for you to sign on to my official petition to end the filibuster if you're with me. I won't name any names, but *some* Democrats in the Senate are standing in the way of massive, transformative legislation by refusing to end the filibuster. Why? They're claiming falsely that it "protects" democracy. Here's how I'd say that's working out: There's *so* much the Senate has the power to accomplish if they'd only ditch the racist, Jim Crow filibuster and vote for transformative legislation. Just think — we could pass the For the People Act to expand voting rights, pass the Equality Act to guarantee equal rights under law, and raise the national minimum wage to at least $15 an hour. All of that + more. But we can't get anywhere with the filibuster in place, Pamela, so let's leave it in the past where it belongs. If you agree that it's time for Democrats to finally use our power to pass transformative, once-in-a-lifetime legislation to actually deliver for working people, then I am respectfully asking you to add your name next to mine. At any point, I'd readily trade my career for important, bold, and common-sense legislation to heal and transform our nation. Thanks for hearing me out, John John Fetterman Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania |
