| Arkansas Texas Montana Ohio Tennessee West Virginia And more… The list of states that have introduced, progressed, or passed appalling, discriminatory anti-trans legislation this year continues to grow as legislators in statehouses across the country are using the same hateful tactics we've seen time and again to target transgender and non-binary youth. They're targeting the rights and dignities that every child is entitled to, from penalizing science-based and medically-essential care, to banning transgender youth from participating in sports, to prohibiting transgender and non-binary people from correcting the gender marker on their identification. And this vile political maneuvering is happening at the same time that transgender people, especially Black and Brown transgender women, face an epidemic of violence. We cannot stand by while the legislative onslaught against the trans and non-binary community continues. We have the opportunity to pass the Equality Act – groundbreaking federal legislation that would close critical gaps in civil rights protections for LGBTQ people, women, people of faith, and others. Will you join the Human Rights Campaign in calling on the Senate to pass this bill? The attacks on transgender and non-binary people don't stop at the Statehouse doors. Just a few months ago, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene hung a transphobic poster across the hall from her colleague, the mother of a transgender daughter, using her platform to spread anti-transgender propaganda that is as false as it is shameful. Now more than ever, we need the Equality Act to say loud and clear – from Congress to every corner of every community across the country – that discrimination and hate have no place here. Add your name to call on the Senate to pass the Equality Act and finally provide explicit, consistent non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people. Thank you for your commitment to equality, Human Rights Campaign |
